Ordering Prints
Preparing your images correctly helps ensure you receive the best possible print quality. The guide below takes you through each step, from checking your image is suitable for printing to placing your order.
Step 1 – Check your image is ready for printing
Most images taken directly from a digital camera are suitable for printing. However, if your photograph has been heavily cropped, downloaded from social media, or edited on a phone, it may not contain enough pixels for the print size you require.
If you use Lightroom, Photoshop or similar software, you can prepare your images there. If you don’t have image editing software, Photopea is a free online editor that works in your web browser and is ideal for resizing images for printing.
Resizing your image using Photopea
- Open Photopea. It can be used online or installed on your computer by selecting More > Install Photopea.
- Click Open from Computer and select your image, or simply drag and drop the image into Photopea.
- Once your image is open, select Image > Image Size.
- Look at the chain (link) icon between the width and height values.
- If the chain is linked, your image keeps its original proportions. This is the recommended setting for most photographs as it prevents the image from becoming stretched or distorted.
- If you need your image to fill an A4 or A3 page exactly, you may need to unlink the chain by clicking it. This allows you to enter both the width and height manually, but if your photograph is not already the correct shape it may appear stretched or squashed.
- Enter the following print settings (all 300 dpi)
- A5: 1748 × 2480 pixels at 300 dpi
- A4: 2480 × 3508 pixels at 300 dpi
- A3: 3508 × 4961 pixels at 300 dpi
- A3+ (30 × 40 cm): 3543 × 4724 pixels at 300 dpi
- If your image is already set to 300 dpi (or 350 dpi), there is no need to change the resolution.
- Select File > Export As > JPG, then save the resized image.
Your image is now ready for printing.
Helpful notes
•Before resizing, check that your photograph is roughly the same shape as the paper size. Standard camera images (3:2 ratio) are usually suitable, but square or heavily cropped images may not fill an A4 or A3 page without cropping or distortion.
•Please do not add borders to your image. Borders reduce the printable area, resulting in a smaller photograph, and borderless printing is not possible from images that already contain a border.
•If you are unsure whether your image needs resizing, or experience any problems, please don’t worry. Contact the club and we will be happy to help you prepare your photograph for printing.
Step 2 – Submit your images
When you are ready to have your photographs printed, you can submit your files in one of two ways:
•By email
•By providing them on a USB stick or memory card at a club meeting

If you are sending images for different print sizes or paper types, please place them in clearly labelled folders or send separate emails for each group.
If your image files are too large to send by email, you may use a free file transfer service such as WeTransfer.
Using WeTransfer
- Go to www.wetransfer.com
- Click “I just want to send files” (no account required).
- Click “Add files” and select your images (or folders where available).
- Enter the recipient email address: printingledeclicluchaptais@gmail.com
