Spring Exhibition Photography Competition – Theme: Water – The Winners
As part of our Spring Exhibition, members were invited to submit photographs based on the theme “Water”. The theme was deliberately open to interpretation, encouraging photographers to explore the many qualities and meanings associated with water — from landscapes, reflections and movement to weather, nature and more abstract approaches.
Images were displayed individually in simple, glassless frames so that judging focused solely on the quality, creativity and presentation of the photograph itself, rather than the influence of framing or display.
Visitors and attending club members were invited to take part in a public vote, selecting their preferred first and second choices from all entries. These votes were then counted to determine the public’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed images.
Alongside the public vote, entries were also assessed by independent judges, who scored each photograph against a range of criteria including composition, technical quality, interpretation of the theme and the relationship between the image and its title. The judges’ scores determined a separate set of 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed images.
The exhibition was well attended, with many visitors taking the opportunity to cast their votes. Feedback from both the public and the independent judges reflected the high standard of entries, with the quality and variety of interpretations making the final decisions particularly challenging.
All placed photographers received a certificate in recognition of their achievement, with the winners of the two first-place awards also receiving a club printing voucher.
