For June 2026, the club’s monthly photography challenge explored the theme “Abstract”, encouraging members to look beyond the obvious and create images that focused on visual elements rather than easily recognisable subjects.
The challenge invited members to explore how shapes, colours, textures, patterns, and light could become the primary focus of an image. By moving away from literal representation, abstract photography offered an opportunity for artistic expression and encouraged viewers to interpret each photograph in their own way, creating a strong visual impact through imagination and personal perspective.
Participants experimented with a wide range of techniques and subjects, discovering abstract compositions in both natural and man-made environments. Through careful observation, creative framing, and thoughtful use of light and colour, members produced images that demonstrated how ordinary scenes and objects can be transformed into striking and intriguing works of photographic art.
