The club visited the Sentier des Peintres at Crozant, Creuse, on 5th June for a day of photography in one of France’s most celebrated artistic landscapes. The scenic walking trail, which inspired many well-known painters, offered members a wonderful opportunity to capture sweeping views of the Creuse Valley, dramatic rock formations, and the picturesque surroundings that have attracted artists for generations.
The day began with an unexpected challenge, as the entire village of Crozant had been closed to traffic due to extensive road resurfacing works. Members found themselves navigating a maze of narrow country roads before eventually reaching a suitable meeting point. Once everyone had arrived, a well-earned (if rather expensive!) coffee at the local café helped revive spirits before the group set off along the trail.
The walk itself provided a rewarding variety of photographic opportunities, from expansive landscapes and changing light to woodland scenes and architectural details. Members were able to enjoy the route at their own pace, taking time to explore different viewpoints and compositions while sharing ideas and techniques along the way. Despite the eventful start, it proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable outing, with several family members also joining to enjoy the scenery and the walk through this beautiful part of the Creuse.
